Caption Definition

Caption is brief description, heading, or title that identify or introduce a document, graphic, photograph, or table. It is consist of additional information which available in the pictures/photos. Usually it’s located below the picture itself.  

The short ex serves to describe what is in the picture. Captions are usually also used to emphasize the content of an article, essay or report. Caption Funciton

A caption is text that appears below an image. Most captions draw attention to something in the image that is not obvious, such as its relevance to the text. A caption may be a few words or several sentences.


Types of captions

1. Identifications

This type of caption text is usually used to describe or identify everyone in the photo, but does not explain a story. The focus on this type of identification text caption is on clarity.

2. Group Caption

Group Captions are usually used to describe multiple images. This caption should have at least two sentences per image and include a quote whenever possible. Group captions must be clear about which image each caption describes.

3. Story-Telling Caption

Story-telling captions are the ideal type of caption and can be used whenever possible. This type of caption will tell a story behind the image. Using this type of caption will usually be more interesting to read.

  Kusno Sosrodihardjo or better known as Ir. Soekarno was born in Surabaya, June 6, 1901. Bung Karno, who was the first President of the Republic of Indonesia, died on June 21, 1970 in Jakarta at the age of 69 and he was buried in Blitar, East Java.   Definitoin Explanation Text Explanation is a text which tells processes relating to forming of natural, social, scientific and cultural phenomena. Explanation text is to say ‘why’ and ‘how’ of the forming of the phenomena. It is often found in science, geography and history text books.
