Biography Part 1

 


Kusno Sosrodihardjo or better known as Ir. Soekarno was born in Surabaya, June 6, 1901. Bung Karno, who was the first President of the Republic of Indonesia, died on June 21, 1970 in Jakarta at the age of 69 and he was buried in Blitar, East Java.

President Soekarno lives in Tulungagung, East Java with his grandfather. He did not spend his childhood with his parents. In Tulungagung, Soekarno had attended school, but could not finish it, because he was back with his parents living in Mojokerto.

In 1915, Soekarno successfully completed his education at the Europeesche Lagere School and then lived with H.O.S Cokroaminoto who was a friend of Soekarno's father. Together with H.O.S Cokroaminoto, Soekarno began to know and study politics.

He also learned how to make speeches and in 1921 he finished his studies at the Hogere Burger School. After that, Soekarno moved to Bandung and attended the Technische Hooge School majoring in civil engineering, which is currently ITB. Soekarno graduated on May 25, 1926 and succeeded in obtaining the title of engineer.

Until now, the figure of Ir. Soekarno is still very much attached to the hearts of the Indonesian people. His struggle and determination in realizing Indonesia's independence together with the community should be an inspiration for the struggle at this time.
